Meet Dr. Tan Nguyen

Dr. Tan Nguyen (pronounced “Winn”) is originally from Texas and enlisted into the United States Marine Corps Reserve shortly after high school. During his training with the Marines, he served as a motor transport technician and operator and was promoted to the rank of Corporal. While serving in the Marine Corps, he earned his Bachelor of Science of Biology from Texas Christian University. After fulfilling his commitment to the Marines, Dr. Nguyen went on to New York University College of Dentistry where he earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS).

For his work in oral cancer research while at NYU, Dr. Nguyen was conferred the American Association of Oral Biology Award, the American Association of Dental Research Award, the NYU Dean’s Student Research Award twice and was nominated into the American Association for the Advancement of Science and became an honorary member of the Sigma Xi Research Society. Dr. Nguyen graduated in the top five percent of his class at NYU and in recognition of his academic achievement, he received the Quintessence Academic Achievement Award and was inducted into the nationally recognized dental honor society, Omicron Kappa Upsilon. 

After graduating from NYU, Dr. Nguyen further pursued his studies and was accepted into his orthodontic residency program at Harvard School of Dental Medicine. In addition to acquiring his Certificate in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, Dr. Nguyen studied molecular signaling in bone fracture repair and earned his Doctorate of Medical Science (DMSc). 

In 2013, Dr. Nelson presented Dr. Nguyen with an opportunity to join him in private practice. Dr. Nelson has since retired, and Dr. Nguyen took sole ownership of the practice in 2019. 

Dr. Nguyen’s professional associations include active membership in the American Association of Orthodontists, Massachusetts Dental Society and he is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics.

When Dr. Nguyen is away from the office, he likes to go to the gym and spend time restoring his former military Humvee. In warmer months, he enjoys going out on the paddleboard, but in any season Dr. Nguyen loves to barbecue.
